Why Study English?
English is a core subject and is fundamental to everyday life. The skills that are taught play a crucial part in supporting pupils in other curriculum areas and life beyond school. We firmly believe in a growth mind-set where all pupils can make excellent progress.

Who teaches it?
Sally Hurlston, Laura West and Joe Blackman teach KS3 English.
How is it taught?
Through a range of creative writing, fiction, non-fiction texts, extracts and Shakespearean plays. Links with the local area and museums.
What do we learn?
We study a range of texts from different cultures, ages and genres in order to develop reading, comprehension, inference, analysis and comparative skills. We explore different writing types, forms and purposes whilst developing our learners’ basic literacy skills and understanding of language.
