Pupils Set Sail at Himley and Learn Vital Water Safety Skills

Groups of pupils and staff have recently enjoyed an exciting day of sailing and water-based activities at Himley, providing a fantastic opportunity to develop confidence, teamwork and resilience while learning important life-saving skills.

Throughout the day, pupils took part in a range of activities on and around the water, including sailing sessions led by experienced instructors. The activities encouraged pupils to challenge themselves, work collaboratively and build trust in both their peers and staff members.

As well as having fun, the visit highlighted the importance of water safety. Pupils learned about the potential risks associated with open water and were taught essential safety procedures, including the correct use of buoyancy aids, how to stay safe near water and what to do in an emergency situation.

Staff were impressed by the pupils’ enthusiasm, determination and willingness to step outside their comfort zones. Many pupils demonstrated excellent teamwork and communication skills while supporting one another during the activities.

Experiences such as these help pupils develop independence, confidence and an understanding of how to stay safe when enjoying outdoor environments. The day was a great success, with pupils returning to school with new skills, memorable experiences and a greater awareness of water safety.

We would like to thank the staff and instructors at Himley for providing such an enjoyable and educational experience. The trip was a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to learn, grow and have fun in a safe and supportive environment.
