What do we learn

The intent of the Music curriculum is to enable students to explore, develop and express ideas and concepts through different styles of Music from around the world. |The curriculum intends to teach the students three artistic processes;

  • Performance as a soloist and as an ensemble performer.

  • Composition through solo music making and ensemble music making.

  • Listening and appraising.

Why do we learn it

Music is essential for a well-rounded education, fostering brain development, emotional intelligence and crucial life skills. It builds resilience and serves a tool for emotional expression, reducing anxiety and stress, while encouraging creativity.

How do we assess it (Diff accreditations etc)

We study music through recommendations in the national curriculum and OCR GSCSE exam board.

How do we do? results

Our students are graded against OCR GCSE music 9 – 1.

Musician, Composer, Singer, Songwriter, Audio Engineer, Producer, Live event technician, Music therapist, Musical director.

Hours per week

One lesson of 70 minutes at KS3, two lessons of 70 minutes at GCSE per week.
