Two of our minibuses were stolen over Easter.
School appeals for public support after fifth minibus stolen in eight months
A Worcestershire school for reengaging disaffected young people with education is appealing for public support to find two stolen minibuses, the latest in a spate of thefts following the loss of three other vehicles last year.
The Continu Plus Academy, which uses the minibuses to transport children safely to and from their homes and for a range of educational visits, issued CCTV images of the stolen buses, taken from its premises on 12 April.
Three minibuses were previously stolen from the school in August 2016, a crime that remains unsolved. The latest thefts come despite the addition of a range of security measures including the installation of an electric gate, parking bollards and fitting anti theft tracking devices.
The Continu Plus Academy Headteacher Sara Devo said: “The theft of these two minibuses is hugely distressing for our pupils, parents and staff, especially as it means we have now had five vehicles taken from us in the past eight months.
Our minibuses are so important to the educational opportunities we can provide to our children, many of whom have had difficulties in engaging with mainstream schooling in the past, allowing us to safely and reliably take them to and from their homes, and on a range of educational visits, including to sporting activities, theatre performances and museums.
We have taken this recent incident very personally, and we appeal to anyone for help in finding our buses and the criminals who have inflicted significant harm on our community.

Notification of Ofsted Inspection
During the period of Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th April The ContinU Plus Academy will be inspected by Ofsted.
As we head towards the end of our 5th term at the CPA, our staff are immensely proud of the achievements of our students.
Key Stage 3 pupils have made huge strides in their reading, comprehension and maths skills, whilst our Key Stage 4 pupils are working hard towards GCSE and other qualifications.
In addition to this we are working with our students to improve social skills, relationship building and general positivity. The CPA is a real community that starts afresh everyday. Together, with compassion, intelligence and commitment, We Will Work Out.
Some of our year 11 pupils have been making short videos about the School as part of their Arts Award.
Closing during the school day once lessons have started
Pupils will return to their tutor rooms to be registered when instructed by a member of the senior leadership team.
The admin office will contact home and inform parents/careers of proposed travel arrangements home. Once parental permission has been obtained pupils will be expected to make their own way home or will be transported in line with transport arrangements.
If we are unable to acquire parental permission tutors or designated staff will remain with pupils in designated areas (meeting room/school hall) until permission is granted or until the end of the school day.
Adverse Weather Conditions
Poor weather conditions are forecast, the school will be assessed regarding the health and safety of students and staff at approximately 5am. A decision will be made as to whether the school will be closed and this will be communicated to parents and students via:
- Text Message
- Website http://continuplus.org.uk/
- BBC Hereford and Worcester and Free Radio
- Worcestershire County Council’s Website
The above procedure will also be in place for any emergency school closure.

Everyone at our school feels like we are on the verge of something special. Our new build and the attitude of our pupils are enabling all of us to aim higher than we have ever done before. Join us now and with your support we will make the CPA the very best place for your children to be. …Or just come for the free cake!
A Call to Men
The CPA are lucky enough to have Tony Porter form the USA as visiting speaker on Tuesday 4th March. Tony will be talking to all of our boys about the issues surrounding masculinity in the 21st century. If you fancy learning more about Tony and his inspirational message, google him as he has his own Youtube videos and has given TED talks to wide acclaim. Feel free to give us a ring if you want any more information.
Light at the end of the tunnel
Apologies to everyone who has been affected by the build delays on our new school. We are now told that we will gain completion of our teaching block on Tuesday 28th January, with Key Stage 3 inductions taking place on Wednesday the 29th. Year 11 will be inducted during the remainder of that week, and year 10 will be inducted on Tuesday and Wednesday of the week commencing the 3rd of February. New letters are in the post and we would ask all parents and carers to support our induction sessions if possible. If transport is an issue please give us a ring. It won’t be long now!
Seeing the wood through the trees
Staff are reporting great things from Bishops Wood this week with pupils embarking on the Collaboration module of our International Middle Years curriculum. Apparently our lads were collaborating furiously in the Launch activities in order to defeat our girls in their Collaborative tasks. In the end both teams did really well and we are expecting great things from our Key Stage 3 team this term. Guhinder, Rob, Jo and Michelle have been working especially hard to ensure that our pupils get a supportive and engaging curriculum that our pupils will never forget. Keep it up!
Education over six sites- a big thank you to everyone
Thanks to all of our governors, staff, partners, parents, carers and pupils. Due to your phenomenal support we have been able to deliver good quality and innovative provision during this difficult transitional time in the life of the CPA. We really do appreciate your flexibility and positivity and hopefully, we will be in our new building with a full time table, including after school enrichment, by the end of January. We couldn’t have done this without you.
Outdoor Ed goes from strength to strength
Now with a strong and growing outdoor education team, we are enabling our pupils to experience orienteering, mountain biking and climbing. We would also like to welcome Paul Morris and Luke Parrock to our team. The only way is up……. a climbing wall?
